Tropical looking skies today as Hurricane Fran approaches. FLOODS WIND DAMAGE FROM REMAINS OF HURRICANE FRAN 6th- Remains of Hurricane Fran begins around 9:30am with drizzle. Rains became very heavy by 12:45pm and winds becane strong from East. Rains continued all afternoon moderate to heavy, with a few loud claps of thunder and some sharp lightning, winds peaked at 46 mph around 4:30pm. A few more heavier downpours and gust winds this evening, most of the rain ended by 9pm. Total rain 3.20" Alot of street flooding occured and creeks and streams came out of there banks. Some trees were uprooted and damaged along with powerline damage. Fran also has broken our All Time Yearly Rainfall Record of 52.86" set in 1975 We are now at 54.75". 8th- Area rivers are cresting today causing severe flooding and going very close to the levels of this past January. Thunderstorm developed overhead this afternoon 4:15pm to 4:45pm produced .38" of rain and very sharp and very close frequent cloud to ground lightning. Wind gusts to 25 mph. 9th- Very warm humid and hazy today. Thunderstorms moved in and developed all around us this evening just before 9pm but only a trace of rain fell here. 10th- Denese am fog. Warm and humid today. HEAVY DOWNPOURS 13th- Very heavy downpours early this morning and some thunder and lightning began just after 3am. Rain intensity was very heavy with a maximum rate of 6.60" per hour at 3:20am Most of the rain ended by 8am 2.20" fell. Breezy and cooler today. Light showers around 2pm .02" fell 14th- A very fine fall-like day, fells good. 15th- Chilly morning low of 48 F. Another fine fall day. MORE RAIN 16th- Rain began around 10am. Very cool and rainy all day, rain was moderate to heavy at times 1.20" fell by midnight. 17TH- Showers overnight and this morning and a few this afternoon .33" fell. 22nd- Showers overnight mainly between 2-5am .28" fell. A rather intense thunderstorm this evening 7-8pm produced another .50" of rain sharp lightning and strong winds up to 37 mph. 24th- Cloudy and cool with a few very light showers around 10am and 6pm .01" fell. 27th- Few light sprinkles late this evening, trace. 28th- Some light rain showers overnight and this afternoon with heavier downpours around 4:30pm from strong cold front, also strong winds up to 34 mph as front passed. Rains continued untill 11pm. Total today .81". Wettest September On Record with 10.60" Beats the 1975 record of 10.09"
