Some evening rain and showers 6pm - 11:30pm total .23" fell. 2- Showers and a light thunderstorm 12:30am - 3am .29" fell. 3- Very Hot but a rapid decrease in humidity today. 4- Some clouds but a rather pleasant 4th, high 84 F. INTENSE EARLY MORNING THUNDERSTORMS 7- A surprise with some intense early morning thunderstorms. Thunder and lightning began around 12:20am but rain moved in at 12:45am became very heavy with 1.00" falling in 15 minutes from 12:50am - 1:05am, also some rather wicked frequent lightning, winds gusts to 28 mph. Storms developed overhead and continued to develop in the area intense lightning and showers continued till 2:00am total rain was 1.46" Some wind damage reported just East of here. 8- Hot 91 F. 9- Thunderstorms developed just to East 3pm-3:30pm. Other storms Developed in and around the area by 4pm with some sharp lightning wind gusts to 32 mph and brief heavy rain .43" fell by 5pm. The severe storms just missed Hagerstown on both sides, Northeast Washington County got Blasted by several severe storms. VERY DRY 10 - 22 10- Very light shower just before 3am .01" fell. 90+ DEGREE HEAT WAVE 12 - 19 15- Very Hot 97 F. Not a record because the Highest All Time Temperature of 105 occured on this date in 1954. Some nearby Thunderstorms late this evening to our West and North produced vivid display of lightning but only .01" of rain. 17- Very hot 97 F. High close to record of 100 in 1953. 18- HOT 100 F. HIGH TIED RECORD set in 1986. Thunderstorms pass just to WSW 6-7pm with only a trace of rain. Wind gusts to 30 mph. Some more storms just grazed the area again late this evening which did produce .07" rain around 11:30pm. 19- Hot but much less humid which was down to 18% at one point. 20- did not hit 90 today only 89. 21- Hot agian High of 94 F. Became very humid and sultry this evening Thunderstorms tried to move in from the SW but dissipated and only got .01" of rain. Thunderstorms Re-developed to North in Franklin Co.PA and Produced Extremely Vivid Display of Intense Frequent Lightning. COOLER 22- Few sprinkles of rain around 4am and 2pm only .01". 23- Cloudy and became very cool as temp fell into 60's with a few periods of very light rain and drizzle. 24- Very cool High temp only 65 F. for the second coldest Max Temp in the month of July. The all time record cold Maximum is 63 F. July 13th 1990. Also Periods of Needed rain fell today with the heaviest downpours occuring noon - 2pm. Total rain today .78". 25- Another cool cloudy day high only 76. WARMER AGAIN 26- Warmer high of 89 F. 27- Hazy, Hot & Humid High 95 F. Today was the worst day yet for heat and humidity with the heat index peaking at 110. 28- Very Hot & Humid 95 F. again Heat index 112. Thunderstorms try to move in around 5pm but break up and go around us as usual only a trace of rain fell a few close lightning strikes and wind gusts to 24 mph but that was it.
