Thunderstorm this evening 9-11pm with intense lightning and brief rains of .23" There has never been a July without any 90 degree days until now. The highest temperature was 89 F on the 10th of July. The thermometer tried to get to the 90 degree mark the last 2 days of the month reaching 88 F. both days but clouds probably helped to break the record. It felt like it was in the 90's with a lot of high humidity, dew points and a heat index of 98. The only other time we came close to not having any 90 weather in July was in 1947 when the temperature hit 91 on the 30th for the only 90 degree day of the month. Even the coolest July on record in 1920 had two 90 degree days. In 1907 only three 90 degree days occurred for the entire year but two of those happened in July. July's temperature averaged out to be 72.1 F. Not the coolest ever but it came in as the 6th coolest ever. This is a great contrast from last July 1999 when we had the record for the most 90 degree days for the month of July or any month with 23 days 90 or higher. July 1999 was also one of the Hottest months ever recorded with an average temperature of 80.0 F. It was also the 3rd driest with only 1.16" of rain.
