Sunny breezy and cold today high 32. 2nd: Low of 13 F. Mostly sunny and cold today high 35 F. FIRST SNOW OF WINTER SEASON 2001-02 6th: Snow began around 1:30pm this afternoon. Snow was moderate at times but changed to moderate sleet and freezing rain for about an hour 3:45pm-4:45pm that really brought up the liquid content measurment. Changed back to snow again by 5pm. Snow continued moderate at times into the evening.Snow measurments 2pm 0.3" / 3pm 1.2" / 4pm 1.6" / 5pm 1.7" / 6pm 2.7" / 7pm 3.2" 8pm 3.5" which is the final total snow ended by 8:30pm. 7th: Some more light snow overnight began around 3am another 0.7" by 7am which brought the storm total up to 4.2". Light snow fell all morning but no additional accumulation. A few flurries this afternoon. Windy and colder this evening. 9th: Warmer today high of 49 F. NEAR RECORD WARMTH 10th: Partly cloudy breezy and warm today with a high of 61 F. close to the record of 65 in 1930. RAIN / WINDY 11th: Light rain overnight began just before 2am ended by 7am .19" fell. Windy and cold today with WNW winds gusting to 37 mph. 12th: A mild day high of 50 F. 13th: Snow flurries this morning. Very windy today with strong WNW winds gusting up to 46 mph. 14th: Partly to mostly cloudy breezy and mild today SSE winds gusting to 29 mph. 15th: Mostly cloudy and windy today. West winds guting to 37 mph especially this evening Also some snow showers this evening. 17th: Mild high of 52 F then windy and colder this afternoon with WNW winds gusting up to 36 mph. 18th: Mostly sunny and windy WNW winds up to 31 mph. WINTER WEATHER 19th: Snow began 8:30am. Mostly light snow fell most of the morning. Snow this afternoon was moderate at times but ended around 2pm with 1.7" of snow on ground. Freezing rain began at 3:30pm then to sleet and snow 4:30pm to all snow again by 6pm. Snow light to moderate this evening ended just after 10pm another 1.1" of accumulation bringing the total to 2.8" on ground. The freezing rain and sleet made the water content much higher at .46". 21st: Period of light snow this morning between 8:30am - 10am produced a dusting on ground. Mostly cloudy today. Windy warmer this evening with West winds up to 28 mph temp rose to 44 F this evening. 22nd: Sunny and mild today high of 53 F. 23rd: Some drizzle this morning became partly cloudy and warm today high 58 F. RAIN 24th: Rain began just after 5am. Rain during the morning was moderate at times ended by 11am with .48" total. Windy this evening with strong gusts around 8pm to 32 mph. This was a mostly cloudy day too I wonder how warm it would have been if the sun was out strong. 30th: Mild overnight 63 at midnight that's the high for the day. Cloudy with some drizzle today. Total rain.17" January 2002 averaged out much warmer than normal with 38.3 making it into the top ten warmest January list comimg in as the 9th warmest. Recent and warmer January's were 1998 with a 39.5 average and 1990 with a average of 39.6. The all time warmest was in 1932 with incredible 42.9 average.
