Some gusty winds this evening between 7-9pm from north up to 31 mph. Rain began just before midnight. RAIN TO WET SNOW 3.4" 3rd: Falling temperatures and rain overnight moderate at times began changing to sleet then to snow just after 5am. About 1 inch of wet snow by 7am. Periods of snow continued through the morning mainly light to moderate at times. Snow ended by 2:15pm. Total snowfall 3.4" Snow was wet and heavy. Water content from rain and snow was 1.17" SLEET FREEZING RAIN 0.4" SLEET & ICE / STRONG WIND 4th: Cloudy and cold today high 31 F. Sleet and freezing rain began this evening just after 10pm. 5th: Sleet and freezing rain overnight with moderate buildup of ice with 0.4" of sleet and ice on ground about 0.2" on trees and wires. Rain was moderate at times overnight. Freezing rain ended by 10:30am. Total water content from event was 1.34" Temperature remained around 32 most of the day as ice was slow to melt. Temperature and winds increased this evening as cold front approached. Temperature rose to 38 this evening and strong WNW winds gusting to 42 mph. Damage and downed wires and trees and power outages from the ice. Much heavier ice accumulation and damage just north of town and across PA line. 6th: Windy overnight NNW winds gusting to 29 mph. Partly cloudy and cold high 32 F. 7th: Mostly sunny and breezy today high 35 F. 8th: Mostly cloudy and cold with a few snow flurries today hifh 29 F. A few snow shower late this evening, trace. SNOWFALL 1.4" 9th: Few snow flurries overnight. Cloudy today with light snow mainly between 3pm - 7pm with 1.4" accumulation. 10th: Partly cloudy breezy and cold high 28 F. 11th: Mostly sunny and cold high 26 F. SNOW 7.7" 12th Mostly cloudy and cold high 24 F. Light snow began this evening just before 8pm. Light snow through the evening with 1.0" by midnight. 13th: Snow overnight light to moderate at times with around 4 inches by 6am. Snow during the morning mainly light was briefly moderate to heavy at times. Accumulation at 12:30pm 7.5" Snow flurries during the afternoon and some light snow during the evening with a bit of sleet bringing the total to 7.7" for the event. Some strong gusty winds during the afternoon and evening with gusts to 35 mph causing some blowing and drifting of snow. Became warmer during the afternoon and evening with a high of 35 this evening. This area seemed to get the least amount of snow ranging from 7 - 10 inches as compared other areas of the state with up to 20" in Frederick County. 14th: Cloudy morning became bright and sunny and warmer today with a lot of melting snow high of 44 F. Very windy from late morning through early afternoon with west winds gusting up to 40 mph. A few late evening rain sprinkles. LIGHT WET SNOW 0.8" 15th: A few snow flurries overnight. Light wet snow between 6:30am - early afternoon with 0.8" accumulation. Became windy today with NW winds gusting to 33 mph. 16th: Mostly cloudy and cold with light to very light snow falling during the afternoon and through the evening with only a very light coating of snow not enough to measure. High of 29 F. QUICK BURST OF EVENING SNOW & WIND 1.2" 17th: Cold low of 13 F this morning. Mostly sunny today high of 32 F. Fast moving clipper from the west this evening drops 1.2" of total snow. Began around 11:30pm and continued through 12:30am. Near whiteout conditions between 11:30 - 12m with strong SE winds gusting to 34 mph and falling temperature to 23 F.. Brief blizzard like conditions with the blowing snow. 18th: Snow ended by 1am with few flurries overnight Became sunny and much warmer today with a high of 51 F with much melting of snow. MORNING FREEZING RAIN / WARMER / WINDY 19th: Freezing rain and some sleet began at 7am with light ice accumulation. Became all rain just before ending by 10am as temperature went above freezing. Some accidents reported from ice coverd roads. Rainfall .25" Became sunny and warmer today. A few clouds and some sprinkles around 2pm. High of 55F today. Became windy during the late afternoon and evening with west winds gust up to 42 mph. 20th: Mostly cloudy breezy high 50 F. 21st: A roller coaster swing in temperatures today going from 30's to 50's and back to 30's again. Rain showers fell between 9:30am - 12:30pm with some heavier downpours at times and some strong gusty winds to 36 mph. Total rain today .37". SPRING LIKE DAY 22nd: Sunny windy and much warmer today with a high of 59 F. Strong WSW winds gusting as high as 36 mph. 23rd: Partly cloudy and mild today high 54 F. Light showers and breezy during the evening between 7pm - 12m .05". 24th: Sunny and vindy high of 39 F. West winds gusting as high as 45 mph. 25th: Snow flurries and snow showers overnight and during the morning, no accumulation. Partly cloudy today high 37 F. 26th: Few snow flurries overnight and this morning. Became mostly sunny windy and cold high of 30 F. 27th: Partly cloudy cold and very windy today high 32 F. WNW winds gusting up to 49 mph this afternoon. 28th: Cold low of 11F this morning. Sunny and cold today high 25 F. The 3 month winter average temperture for Dec, Jan, & Feb was 30.0 F. Normal is 33.0. Even though this winter seemed very cold it was far the record cold winter of 1917-18 with an average of 23.9. This winter came in as the 23rd coldest on record. FEBRUARY 2014
